The 23rd season of The Voice 's fireworks are already exploding between real friends and on-screen rivals Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson. The two winning coaches are competing in the Cowboys’ farewell season, and after the talk show host stabbed Shelton during a heartfelt message to her longtime colleague, the country star retaliated. The “God’s Country” singer responded to Clarkson, and I’m very happy to see this friendly feud continue to flourish on our screens.
As Blake Shelton announced, will be his last, Kelly Clarkson admitted that he is the “best” coach of The Voice. However, she then joked that his departure after season 23 is actually an “acquisition for humanity” because we see him less. The country star responded in kind, telling E! News was one possible way to get him to stay for the 24th time:
I wish Kelly wouldn’t appear on the show anymore. I just think there’s too much Kelly Clarkson on TV.
Wow, Blake Shelton is talking not only about the presence of the OG American Idol champion on “The Voice,” but apparently about her other projects, including, presumably, the Emmy Award-winning talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She was also the co-host of the American song contest, which replaced “The Voice” in NBC’s spring schedule for 2022, so her fellow coach seemed to come to all her projects.
If the quarrel between the coaches has already started, I can’t wait to see how the music superstars will transfer their feud to a real show. The antics of the coaches usually play a pretty big role, especially in the pre-recorded parts of the seasons, so I believe that the Clarkson-Shelton feud will be fully demonstrated in the following episodes.
The rivalry between Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton turned out to be the reason why viewers tuned in to her. When the “Because of You” singer joined “The Voice” in season 14, Shelton faced real competition for the first time when it came to attracting country music artists. . Cowboy was forced to deal with this in season 21, upsetting Clarkson by constantly undermining her knowledge of the genre.
She also proved that she could beat him. While Blake Shelton has nine artists lifting the trophy in 22 seasons for the most wins, Kelly Clarkson has won four times out of eight, giving her 50% of wins.
Another reason why their enmity is so fun to watch is that there is no real enmity between them. The same can’t always be said about Blake Shelton’s rivalry with former voice coach Adam Levine, which included F-bombs and threats to disrupt Shelton’s wedding to Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson leaned on the No Body singer during her divorce, celebrating these victories with her Voice family.
