Carrie Underwood has spoken in detail for the first time about a nasty fall that left her with a broken wrist and nearly 50 stitches to her face. 

The country sweetheart tripped over a step at her home in November and on Thursday The Champion singer spoke to Sirius XM the Highways' Storme Warren Show at Nashville Studios about the incident, revealing she also chipped a tooth.

During her day of press the singer also showed one of the first glimpses of the scar that runs over her lips and up to her nose. 

The 35-year-old wife of Mike Fisher also told the hosts it was not 'intentional' to over-hype a big reveal of her face on the CMAs Sunday; fans have been complaining that she pushed a Frankenstein face but when she walked on stage she looked flawless.

Barely visible: The star's scar was barely visible beneath her makeup

Four days ago: Underwood showed a hint of a scar on her chin at the CMA on Sunday but fans felt like she over hyped her scarred face. She said overselling her different face was not 'intentional'

During the show she talked about the accident.  

'I just fell down. I was walking the dogs out to so do their thing after dinner and I was clumsy and I tripped and I held onto the dog leashes with my left hand and I went to catch myself with my right hand,' she said.

'I had missed the step. There was one lone step. If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been fine. And I held onto the leashes. 

'I said if I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been absolutely fine, but it's just because there was, I went to catch myself and I missed.'

At first singer didn't think there was much damage. 'I thought I just busted my lip. Then I walked inside and took the dog leashes off and took my coat off and went to go survey the damage and was like, "Oh, no!" It wasn't pretty.'

 A flaw? And it appears as if she may have some scarring under her nose and on her lips, but it's almost impossible to tell with all the makeup and the lighting on her face
