Carrie Underwood's body didn't 'bounce back' after her second child

She's a mother of two with an incredible career already under her belt.

And Carrie Underwood admitted that getting back into shape after having her second child wasn't as easy as she had hoped it would be.

The 36-year-old singer told People magazine that 'it was frustrating' not seeing results in the gym as quickly as she did the first time around.

'After having my first kid [Isaiah, 4], I felt like I bounced back fast,' she said. 'And then with Jake, it was like my body took a minute to get back to me.  

'It was frustrating, because I'm like, "Why wasn't it like the first time?"'  

Carrie shares two children with her husband Mike Fisher, who's a former professional ice hockey player.

'After having my first kid [Isaiah, 4], I felt like I bounced back fast,' she said at a CALIA by Carrie Underwood event. 'And then with Jake, it was like my body took a minute to get back to me'

While focusing on her nutritional intake and staying active helped, she ultimately had to change her thought process when it came to seeing results.  

'I'm four years older. That also helped me shift my mindset,' she said. 'I'm still working hard, wanting to be the best me possible, but cutting myself slack and just thinking, "Be kind to yourself."

'It's amazing what we [women] do to ourselves. We're probably all our toughest critics.'

She doesn't believe in 'cheat days' and is intent on just 'enjoying life' while she can.
